چکیده
In this work, dissimilar butt joints of 6061 aluminum and 304 stainless steel were prepared by friction stir welding (FSW), the FSW process is monitored infrared (IR) thermography. Considering different material properties between steel, a novel CFD model with weld tool developed tested to investigate effects on aluminum-steel joint under traverse speeds. The calculated temperature thermal cycles for various speed agreed well corresponding IR thermography experimental results. It found that peak about 10 K lower than measured relative error 2.3%, while it 11.4% without tool. can decrease gradient inhomogeneity field joint. SEM analysis interface showed thickness IMCs may speed. provide viscosity based validated analyze insufficient stirring defect

Heat Transfer in Friction Stir Welding—Experimental and Numerical Studies
In the friction stir welding (FSW) process, heat is generated by friction between the tool and the workpiece. This heat flows into the workpiece as well as the tool. The amount of heat conducted into the workpiece determines the quality of the weld, residual stress and distortion of the workpiece. The amount of the heat that flows to the tool dictates the life of the tool and the capability of ...
متن کاملSimulation of Material Plastic Flow and Morphology During Friction Stir Welding of Stainless Steel to Aluminum Alloy Dissimilar Joint
Today, steel to aluminum joints are used to facilitate transportation and fuel consumption. These joints are applied from nuclear, aerospace and naval to automobile and kitchen industries. According to previous studies fusion welding processes are not suitable methods for these joints, solid-state welding, especially friction stir welding, is a proper way to use for these joints. However, using...

متن کاملThe effect of tool transverse speed on the properties of aluminum-steel dissimilar joint by friction stir welding
This present study aimed to create an Al6061-St52 dissimilar joint and investigate the effect of the transverse speed by the friction stir welding process. Welding aluminum to steel is rugged by fusion methods because of the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds (IMCs). Therefore, to designate optimal parameters, acceptable IMC thickness, and mechanical properties determined. This resear...
